GSI Technology’s Gemini-II APU Powers Live Smart City Monitoring in Hsinchu County
GSI Technology is advancing the deployment of intelligent public safety infrastructure through its participation in the Smart Guardian Program in Hsinchu County, Taiwan.
The program represents GSI’s first Smart City deployment of its Gemini-II Associative Processing Unit (APU). Using GSI’s Hawkeye AI video analytics platform, the system analyzes existing surveillance camera feeds to identify potential public safety incidents, including traffic accidents, fires, hazards, and suspicious activity, and alerts human operators to events requiring attention.

In October 2026, GSI successfully completed the initial stage of Phase I, meeting Hsinchu County’s performance requirements and beginning live AI monitoring.

The Smart Guardian Eye Program provides an important real-world demonstration of Gemini-II’s ability to support continuous, on-premises AI video analytics.
GSI expects to complete Phase I by December 2026. Subsequent phases, if awarded, could expand the installation to approximately 80 cameras and introduce Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) capabilities.
Beyond the initial deployment, the project could serve as a reference for broader Smart City implementations in Taiwan and other municipalities.
Smart Guardian Eye demonstrates how Gemini-II is moving beyond technology demonstrations to deliver practical AI capabilities in operational environments.
